The Corpus Christi Mayor’s Committee for Veterans Affairs host a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park, 222 S. Shoreline Boulevard. Information: 361-826-7529.
A Memorial Day observance will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Veterans Memorial Park on Austin Street, Rockport. Guest speaker is Kathleen “Katy” Jackson, Electronics Technician Senior Chief Petty Officer, USN (retired). Organized by the American GI Forum Post & Unit #324F, Carl Morrison American Legion Post & Unit #363 & Sons of the Legion, and Stewart-Wendell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3904; and sponsored by City of Rockport’s Parks and Leisure Services Dept. and the Aransas County Navigation District. VFW Post 2932 in Aransas Pass presents a Memorial Day Ceremony and Vietnam Veterans/Aransas Pass Community Appreciation Day at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Aransas Pass Veterans Memorial Park, North McCampbell Street and West Maddox Avenue, Aransas Pass. The Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery will host a Memorial Day ceremony at noon Monday, May 29, at 9974 Interstate Hwy. 37 Access Road. Featuring a performance by the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi, remarks with Nueces County Judge Connie Scott and keynote speaker Capt. Alston Kirk, US Navy Chaplain (Retired). Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home presents its annual Honoring our Military remembrance at 1 p.m. Monday, May 29, at 4357 Ocean Drive (please enter through Airline Drive gate). Speakers include Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody, Nueces County Sheriff J.C. Hooper, Nueces County Judge Connie Scott, Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo, and CCAD Commander Col. Kyle Hogan. The USS Lexington Museum on the Bay presents its annual Memorial Day remembrance at 2 p.m. Monday, May 29, at 2914 N. Shoreline Blvd. Presented in honor of those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice, followed by a wreath laying and flag retirement ceremony. A special version of USAA’s Poppy Wall of Honor is on display as a temporary exhibit for Memorial Day now through June 7. Military ID holders (active or retired military and veterans), USAA members and USAA employees can receive free admission to the museum from May 26 through May 29 with a valid form of identification.
